Welcome to Julie-Anne Balouek

Julie-Anne Balouek joined the PhAN joint research unit in March 2026 as a research engineer.

She obtained her PhD in Neuroscience-Neurobiology from the University of Grenoble Alpes in 2018, during which she studied the biological processes of BDNF maturation and cleavage. She then studied the impact of childhood adversity on brain development alongside Catherine Peña at Princeton University as a postdoctoral fellow.
Julie-Anne is motivated by understanding the biological mechanisms that regulate the brain. She joined the PhAN UMR as part of the ANR REDEVELOP project, which focuses on the impact of foetal nutritional supplementation on cerebral cortex development and neurocognitive deficits associated with intrauterine growth restriction.
