Welcome to Grégory Bouchaud

Gregory Bouchaud is a research director who joined the unit at the beginning of 2026.

He is a Research Director in the Allergy team at INRAE-BIA unit in Nantes. He is an Immunologist studying the mechanisms governing allergic reactions in the intestines and lungs, with expertise in murine models of chronic inflammatory diseases, cancer, lung transplantation, and allergies. After obtaining my PhD in 2009 on the characterization of the complex formed between interleukin-15 and its soluble alpha receptor chain at the University of Nantes within the INSERM U892 unit, He completed a postdoctoral fellowship between 2010 and 2013 on the mechanisms of action and applications of cytokine/antibody complexes at the University of Zurich in Switzerland. He joined the allergy team in 2013 through a regional collaborative allergy research project to work on the role of gluten properties on the immune system and the development of food allergies. He was subsequently awarded an "Agreen Skills" grant and then a "Marie Curie IEF" grant to characterize the immune response during food allergies and its modulation by diet and during the atopic march. Recruited as a Research Fellow (CR1) on a project basis in 2014, I work on the mechanisms of food and respiratory allergies and their modulation by diet. Admitted to the Senior Research Fellow (DR2) position in 2022, the objective of my work within the Phan unit is to determine the mechanisms by which maternal malnutrition modulates the inflammatory status of newborns at the intestinal and systemic levels, and the long-term consequences for respiratory health via the gut-lung axis.
