Welcome to Garance DALIX - PhD student

Welcome to Garance DALIX

On December 1, 2024, Garance officially joined UNR PhAN as a PhD student, to study the effect of chia seed supplementation during gestation and lactation, 1) on the health of obese mothers, and 2) on the health of their offspring, in the short term and into adulthood, both in terms of improved neurodevelopment and prevention of cardiovascular disease.

A graduate of the Master 2 Nutrition and Food Science program at the University of Rennes, Garance completed her Master 2 internship in the PhAN unit, supervised by Véronique Ferchaud-Roucher and Clair-Yves Boquien and in collaboration with PANAM Semences. Her internship project focused on the effect of chia seed supplementation, rich in the essential omega-3 fatty acid alpha linolenic acid, during the gestation of obese rats, on the mothers' lipid metabolism and placental transfer of omega-3 fatty acids to the fetal brain, in mid- and late-gestation.

The very encouraging results, presented by Garance at the SFN on December 6, 2024 in Strasbourg, prompted us to pursue this collaboration with PANAM through a CIFRE thesis validated by the ANRT last November.

We are delighted that she is continuing her research training with us.
